Banjo player Danny Barnes leads band At Eddie’s Attic
The Danny Barnes Band will perform at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur on Friday. Growing up in Texas, Barnes found early inspiration among his parents’ classic country records and watching banjoist Stringbean perform with Bill Monroe. Balalaika orchestra The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta invites audiences of all ages to come hear the music of the Atlanta Balalaika Society Orchestra May 31 at 3 p.m. The orchestra will present a concert of Russian and Eastern European folk music, showcasing solos on the balalaika, domra and bayan. Vocalist Nancy Gaddy will sing Russian, Jewish and Yiddish favorites and violinist Alexandra Haimovich will be featured in a rare piece arranged by the Russian Jewish musician Emanuil Sheynkman.
