Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta is bringing a one-man comedy hit to Dunwoody starting Thursday.

Writer/actor Steve Solomon brings his autobiographical Broadway production, “My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish and I’m in Therapy” to Center Theatre Thursday through Oct. 25.

The show chronicles Solomon’s life growing up with an Italian mother and a Jewish father and other people he met throughout his life.

But you don’t have to fit in the show’s ethnic groups to enjoy it, Solomon said.

“It shows situations that are hysterical in a mixed marriage household,” he said. “You don’t have to be Jewish, you don’t have to be Italian, you just have to have lived [to enjoy the show].”

In the show Solomon represents 32 different characters, each with a different voice and personality.

Solomon said he is good at keeping the characters separate, but sometimes, however, they get mixed up on stage.

“Sometimes when my parents argue it can become a little heated. Sometimes I forget who’s saying what,” he said. “But when that happens it’s a funny moment for everybody.”

Tickets for “My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish and I’m in Therapy” range from $20 to $27 with discounts available for students, seniors and MJCCA members. Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday; 8:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2 p.m. Sunday. There will be a matinee performance Friday at 1 p.m.

All performances will be in the Morris & Rae Frank Theatre on the MJCCA’s Zaban Park campus, 5342 Tilly Mill Road in Dunwoody.
