Did the Atlanta Tipoff Club not include all the top DeKalb players on its preseason All-Metro team?

The club recently announced 60 student-athletes, including 15 from DeKalb-based schools, who make up its preseason all-star team.

The candidates were chosen through a vote by the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s board of selectors, comprised of leading basketball coaches and administrators from around the region, who based their criteria on player performances during the 2008-09 basketball season and expectations for the upcoming year.

DeKalb members of the Atlanta Tipoff Club Preseason Boys All-Metro Team include:

- Sharief Adamu, senior, Stone Mountain.

- Jershon Cobb, senior, Columbia (committed to Northwestern).

- Langston Hall, senior, Chamblee.

- Javon McKay, senior, Dunwoody (committed to Tennessee Tech).

- Tony Parker, sophomore, Miller Grove.

DeKalb members of the Atlanta Tipoff Club Preseason Girls All-Metro Team include:

- Alex Abraham, senior, Paideia.

- Alisha Andrews, senior, Redan.

- Jasmine Camp, junior, Chamblee.

- Aneesha Daniels, junior, Redan.

- Chancey Dunn, senior, Southwest DeKalb (committed to Clemson).

- Nia Evans, senior, Redan (committed to Virginia Tech).

- Jen Heider, junior, Marist.

- Kayla Lewis, senior, Southwest DeKalb (committed to Florida).

- Akila McDonald, senior, Columbia (committed to South Florida).

- Hiydaayah Williams, senior, Stephenson.

The Atlanta Tipoff Club’s board of selectors tracks the players' progress and chooses a 2009-2010 All-Metro team, Mr. Basketball and Miss Basketball at the end of the season.
