The Panthers are hitting the field with a new head coach this season, Geoff Pastrick. This is Pastrick’s first season as a head coach after serving as an assistant at traditional Cobb County power McEachern, but he said he is not concerned with the other teams — just focused on Chapel Hill football.

Last year’s overall record looks average, but the Chapel Hill Panthers went 5-1 in subregion play — placing them in a three-way tie for first in the region with South Paulding and Villa Rica. Their only subregion loss came to Villa Rica, 23-21, and their season ended with a play-in game loss to Sprayberry 37-34 in two overtimes.

Not only did they have a good record in the region, but the Panthers also had many players named to the region team. George and OL Brenden Allan, DL Josiah Coatney, LB Ben Crews, George and OL Derrick Senior from Chapel Hill were named to the AAAA Region 5 South first team. Owens, RB Malcolm Broderick, OL Casey Davidson, and LB Derrick Parker were named to the region’s second team. Brett Roberts, a senior, started at quarterback last season as he led his team to the top of the region, and will continue at the same spot for 2012.

Head Coach: Geoff Pastrick, first season as head coach.

Region: 4-AAA

Key Returners: LB Marquise Bedford, LB Brandon Brooks, DE Daryl George, DB Tre Owens, QB Brett Roberts, DT Josiah Coatney, OL Skylar Thomason, RB Tre Mitchell
