All the players have had to work hard over these two weeks to keep pulling out wins, but a key element in the team’s success is Madason Messer.
The sophomore pitcher has come through for her team and helped keep the opponents from getting carried away on the scoreboard. With Messer on the mound, the Spartans are 7-0 and she has an ERA of 1.49.
“This season has been fun, but a lot of hard work. I feel like we’ve come together as a team this year, and that’s why we work well together. I’m excited to see how far we’ll go this season,” Messer said.
Head softball coach Janet Oglesby said she feels like her team has done a great job facing its schedule, both on the mound and at the plate.
“Pitching has also been consistent as we have rotated three pitchers and all have pitched well. Madason Messer is our top pitcher. She keeps the other teams off the scoreboard as much as possible,” Oglesby said.
In the Spartans’ 10 wins this season, no opponent has scored more than five runs on them.
With Messer only being a sophomore, should she stay healthy and injury free, the Lady Spartans will have a good arm for the next two years.
