Swimmers from all Paulding high schools have been doing well this season as four schools are in their inaugural years.

One swimmer who head coach Kait Woods said stood out is Megan Fennell.

A junior at East Paulding, Fennell is one of the 14 members of East’s first swim team.

“Megan is an all-event swimmer, but her main event is freestyle. Megan is willing to swim whatever is asked of her without complaining,” said Woods.

During the team’s last meet, Fennell swam a 2:49.43 in the 200-meter freestyle and a 1:15.82 in the 100 free. She participated in two relays as well, swimming 2:10.44 in the 200 free relay and 2:39.51 in the 200 medley relay.

“Megan has dropped time at every meet and in every race she has swam in this season. Megan’s skill and technique has improved dramatically over the course of the season,” Woods said.

Woods said Fennell is the type of swimmer that a coach wants on her team as she puts her heart into it and always gives her all.

“I tell them I expect their best effort and that is what she gives every time she enters the water and more,” said Woods.

Even though Fennell is a swimmer for East Paulding, Woods said she has no problem talking with any of the other swimmers from the other schools.

“She interacts with all her teammates. She supports her fellow swimmer,” said Woods.
