Of the field events, one athlete did more than win his event, but he broke a school record while doing so as well.
Junior Qua Stocks competes in the long jump and the high jump for the Wildcats.
Stocks is currently in his second season with the track team and is also a member of the Wildcat varsity football team.
This is the first year Stocks has competed in the long jump and his personal best is 21 feet, achieved at the Woodland High School meet March 21 against Allatoona, Calhoun and Paulding County. This jump won him first place that day.
Since beginning with the team last season, Stocks said he has improved his jump by 3 inches.
Also at the meet on March 21, Stocks tied the school record of 6 feet, 6 inches in the high jump, placing second at the event.
Just one week later at the county championship meet, Stocks broke that record with a jump of 6 feet, 7 inches.
Stocks is currently the captain of the boys team for Woodland and said he leads by example.
“I provide motivation to others and challenge them to always give each event their best effort,” said Stocks.
