This makes the season the perfect time to get cozy with a few of your favorite authors.
“Winter’s the perfect time for reading a book and getting under the covers,” said Colleen Knight, adult services coordinator for the Cartersville-
Bartow County Library.
This month the library kicked off its winter adult reading theme “Between the Covers” to encourage adults to get between the covers of a good book that you checked out of your library this winter.
Knight said the idea is to encourage adults to participate in fun and informative programs at the library.
The 2013 Winter Reading Program will be hosting over 35 individual programs for adult enjoyment and learning opportunities.
There will be trivia nights, a murder mystery theater, a genealogy class, and e-book classes.
For seniors, there will be Bingo and Mexican Train Dominoes.
There also will be book discussions, movies, and many other interesting programs, including an Author Festival in March with more than 20 authors.
Knight said the idea is to get adults reading and exploring their local library, which isn’t just for kids.
“We have things for adults, not just for children,” said Knight. “We have something for all ages. Library visits should last your whole life.”
All you have to do is register for the program, either in person or online at www.bartowlibraryonline.org, and then read three books and attend one library program.
Registration began on Jan 1 and the program will run through March 15.
Patrons completing the program will be entered into a drawing for a $100 Visa card.
