Annual Spaghetti Dinner benefit for Douglas Boys & Girls Club set for Aug. 17

Douglas County Boys & Girls Club will host its 21st annual Spaghetti Dinner and Auction fund raiser Aug. 17 at First United Methodist Church of Douglasville with Greystone Power Corp. as its presenting sponsor.

This year’s event, “A Magical Evening” emceed by radio and TV personality Capt. Herb Emory will be a fun-filled night solely for the benefit of club children and teens. All proceeds will benefit Douglas County’s Boys & Girls Club and its growing programs.

Attendees will be treated to a spaghetti dinner catered by Sam and Roscoe’s. The meal will include a salad, dessert and beverage for a donation of $10. Entertainment for the night will include live and silent auctions along with live musical performances by The Tin Roof Band and an appearance by magician Arthur Atsma to make the evening even more special.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Dinner begins at 7 p.m. The church is at 6167 Prestley Mill Road in Douglasville.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta’s mission is to save and change the lives of children and teens, especially those who need them most, by providing a safe, positive, and engaging environment and programs that prepare and inspire them to achieve great futures.

In a little more than two short years, the club after opening its doors to a million-dollar teen center has nearly doubled teen enrollment.

In 2012, 100 percent of the club’s high school graduating seniors went on to further their education through either college, vocational or technical school or the military.
