The Hawks went from winless in 2012 to earning 11 victories this season and making it to the championship game of the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama (ICSGA) postseason where they fell to Holy Ground Baptist on Nov. 16 in their lone loss of the year.
Yerkey finished the season with a team-high 113 tackles, which broke the school’s previous record of 94 in a season. It was the second-straight year he’s led the Hawks in tackles for a season and called the defensive formations for the unit. Yerkey also started for the Hawks at right guard on offense.
“Bryce has played a huge part in the success of Harvester this year,” head coach Jeff Reagan said. “We’re excited about the potential for future accomplishments. His focus is on becoming well-rounded in academics and athletics while building a strong spiritual foundation.”
Yerkey, also on the varsity baseball program, is a member of the Beta Club and Key Club at Harvester as well as staying active with the student ministry of First Baptist Church in Douglasville.
Upon graduation, Yerkey plans to attend Georgia Southern University.
