Tillery had an impressive region tournament for Douglas County, scoring a game-high 26 points against host Tri-Cities in the semifinals on Feb. 17.
“It was great winning the region tournament because that was one of our goals before the season began,” Tillery said. “I understood how badly the team needed me with the challenges we’ve faced. I wanted to step up for the team because the teammates look to me for offense in clutch situations.”
The Tigers have been one of the top teams in the state, securing a spot in multiple Class 6A top-10 polls throughout the season.
“Bringing home the region title made everyone in the Douglas County community proud and it feels great that everyone is supporting us.”
Tillery, who is also a member of the Westside Elite AAU team based in Douglasville, plans to join the school’s Key Club next year and major in accounting upon entering college.
The Tigers defeated Valdosta 88-76 in the first round of the state playoffs on Saturday and faced Hillgrove Monday.
