Parade
Hosted by the Chastain Park Civic Association, the Chastain Park Fourth of July Parade will start its fifth go-round from 11 a.m. to noon at Chastain Park, 4001 Powers Ferry Road. Kids get decked out in American garb, decorate bikes, tricycles and skateboards, and a fire engine usually leads the parade. There will be festivities, food and fun afterwards.

Centennial park
Downtown, Centennial Olympic Park’s Fourth of July celebration offers entertainment for the whole family, including a 9:40 p.m. fireworks display synchronizing with patriotic music. Park gates open at 6 p.m.

Children’s museum
At Imagine It! The Children’s Museum of Atlanta, located downtown, kids 8 and under will create American flags and decorate sunglasses and water bottle holders in red, white and blue to take with them to Centennial Olympic Park. Activities start at 275 Centennial Olympic Park Drive.

Aquarium
The Georgia Aquarium is hosting the Red, White and Brew barbecue and beer fest in the Oceans Ballroom and on the top floor of the aquarium parking deck from 6 to 10:30 p.m. at 225 Baker St., downtown. Tickets are $55, which includes beer samples, a tasting mug, Williamson Brothers barbecue and live music from Yacht Rock Schooner.

Lenox Square
This year marks Lenox Square’s 53rd annual Fourth of July from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. at 3393 Peachtree Road in Buckhead. As always, there will be children’s games, musical entertainment, food and the biggest fireworks display in the Southeast.

East Andrews
For beach lovers staying in the city this year, East Andrews is hosting the Buckhead Beach Party with live music beginning at 2 p.m. but doors open at 11 a.m. at 56 E. Andrews Drive. It is offering volleyball, cold beer and free rides to see fireworks. Tickets are $10 and attendees must be 21 or older.

Underground
In Underground Atlanta, the 17th annual Heritage Arts Festival runs July 4 through 8. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 4 and 5, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 6 and 7 and noon to 6 p.m. July 8. It is chock full of entertainment, including live music, storytelling, book signings, artists, film screenings and live demonstrations. The event is free.
