A benefit barbecue for kidney patient Josh Davis is set for Saturday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. at Burnt Hickory Community Center.

The Burnt Hickory BBQ Dudes will host the event. BBQ plates will be $8.

Davis is a 17-year-old senior at North Paulding High School. He was born with only one kidney and has Stage 5 FSGS (Focal and Segmental Glomerulosclerosis) idney disease, a rare disease that affects the kidney’s filtering system. He is currently on dialysis.

Davis' father is donating one of his kidneys, but is in need of money for the transplant since the family's insurance doesn’t cover 100 percent of the cost.

Those interested in making a donation can go to Josh Davis’s donor page at

For more information contact Jana Brown at (770) 334-4104 or Becky Davis (678) 266-8326.
