Twelve teams of two competitors on each team have officially begun their fundraising as collective members of Team Kim for Bartow County’s first-ever team racing event.

Bartow’s Amazin’ Race is an event like no other in Bartow County.

It is a two-day event set for Aug. 23 and 24 consisting of multiple challenges each day, an overnight stay somewhere, and an exciting race-to-the-finish-line at Pettit Creek Farms in Cartersville beginning at 4 p.m. Aug. 24.

Teams are rallying in support of native Cartersville resident, Kim Cowart, who was recently diagnosed with kidney failure and needs life-saving organ transplant surgery.

Ms. Cowart is married to Brad Cowart and they have a 19-year-old daughter, Madison. Madison is also a competitor with Team 1. All are natives of Cartersville and have been active in the community, and with their church, for many years.

To help reach an “ambitious” $100,000 fundraising goal sponsorships are also available.

Teams who are competing to win two days of challenges — they are also competing to be the team that raises the most money to help the Cowart family with the high costs associated with organ transplants.

“Transplant surgery and post-surgery costs are extremely high,” said event creator and owner of Georgia Fitness Academy in Cartersville, Patrick Nelson. “While insurance will cover some costs – out-of-pocket expenses after surgery and for anti-rejection drugs are very high as well. Thus our ambitious $100,000 fundraising goal is to help Kim and her family and to raise organ transplant awareness for others in need.”

It could be as soon as a few months when Ms. Cowart has organ transplant surgery if there is an opportunity for the family to obtain matching funds from another charitable organization prior to surgery, thus the urgency of the fundraising efforts.

Funds will be placed into the Friends of Kim Cowart Trust.

Please support the team of your choice, or just give a special gift.

The public is invited to attend both the Starting Line Challenge 1 beginning of the race, and also the Finish Line Finale festivities (check the Event Schedule page at the website – details will be posted as they are known).
