Seven weeks into the prep baseball season, DeKalb teams find themselves jockeying for position in their respective regions.

That means key matchup after key matchup on the horizon.

Here’s a brief status update of contending teams:

 Redan

To say that coach Marvin Pruitt’s Raiders are hot right now would be an understatement.

Redan has reeled off 11 straight wins — including last week’s lopsided wins over Columbia and Chamblee — after going 0 for 3 to start the season.

That’s good for a share of the Region 6-AAAA lead — along with fellow perennial power Marist.

The two ball clubs were scheduled to duke it out for first place in the standings April 1.

Upcoming games:

— Therrell, today at 5:30 p.m.

 Chamblee

Coach Brian Ely’s Bulldogs were keeping pace with Redan in the Region

6AAAA standings up until last week. That’s when Chamblee had the misfortune of squaring off with mighty Marist (a 15-0 loss) and Redan (9-1 loss) just two days apart.

Look for the Bulldogs to lick their wounds and rebound in strong fashion this week. Ace Jared McKay will be key … see his March 18 outing against South Atlanta — 12 strikeouts over seven innings in a 4-3 win — as proof.

Upcoming games:

Home vs. Greater Atlanta Christian, today at 5 p.m.

Home vs. Grady, Friday at 5 p.m.

 Marist

Mike Strickland’s War Eagles are on a roll, entering the week winners of their last six.

Aside from their tilt with Redan earlier this week, Marist’s ride might continue on to next week based on the schedule.

Upcoming games:

Home vs. South Atlanta, today at 5:30 p.m.

At Stone Mountain, Friday at 5 p.m.

 Dunwoody

Coach Chan English’s Wildcats are a solid 5-1 in Region 6-AAAAA play, having won two straight.

Dunwoody has been riding a strong pitching rotation — led by Ryan Gaines, Josh Shailer and Logan Elliot.

Shailer recently flirted with history, carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning against Miller Grove March 20 — before allowing one hit while striking out nine in a 4-2 victory.

The Wildcats’ lone region loss was handed down by Southwest

DeKalb, who pulled out a tight 8-7 win in extra innings last week.

Look for the Wildcats to fight tooth and nail to hold down their top spot, with North Atlanta, Arabia Mountain and Lakeside hot on their heels.

Upcoming games:

At Clarkston, today at 5 p.m.

At M.L. King, Friday at 5 p.m.
