Black History Month events Saturday

Black History Month, traditionally observed during February, is having some overflow events in south Fulton. The following are on March 1.

The Georgia International Convention Center, 2000 Convention Center Concourse in College Park, will host a black history art, photography, sports and business memorabilia exhibit, “Celebration 2014 – Past, Present and Future,” Saturday at 3 p.m. with an exhibit tour and reception to follow. The East Point Historical Society, 1685 Norman Berry Drive, East Point 30344, will host former Mayor Patsy Jo Hilliard as a guest docent Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. She will talk about and answer questions on the current exhibit of early photographs about the history of African-Americans in East Point, curated by board member Charles Barlow. Comic books
The South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, will host The New Art Order’s OnyxCon Sankofa 2014, an event celebrating the impact, contributions and presence of the African Diaspora via comic books, video games, film, performances and speculative fiction Saturday from noon to 7 p.m.
