Ten-year Brookhaven resident Tricia Moore will be a participating designer in the American Craft Council’s 24th annual show. Moore, an interior designer at TVS Design in Midtown, will work alongside her associates Katherine Dunatov and Kendall Rohovit in the show’s “Make Room: Modern Design meets Craft” segment.

Moore will be one of 10 metro Atlanta designers who will create a 10 by 10 room inspired by a fine craft object. That object will be one of the pieces featured by an artisan at the show.

For her design, Moore will feature Warren Carpenter’s Cherry Burl wood piece.

“Our space is basically a clean, contemporary design,” she said.

“The inspiration for the bowl is to look at things as nature … we’ll have a bison rug and two paintings of birds, again going back to the natural theme the bowl is creating.”

While this is her first year participating in the event, Moore has been a frequent visitor in the past — to gain inspiration for her work, as well as to connect with the local artists.

Moore’s interior design work mainly focuses on commercial, corporate or public building spaces. On occasion she has use for certain art pieces in her spaces.

“I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for people to go and see some beautiful work,’ said Moore of the show.

“And I’m excited to go. I’m very supportive of ACC because you get to see beautiful crafts, jewelry, textiles … such quality work and I’m excited to see what people are doing.”

Organizers with the event are looking to draw more visitors with the addition of the “Make Room…” exhibit, which will help attendees get a glimpse of how to design a space focusing on one object.

“Part of the joy of collecting is incorporating fine craft into your home and we want to provide our ACC show visitors with some great examples of how to do just that, using some of Atlanta’s best designers,” said Pamela Diamond, director of marketing and communications.

“In addition, we want to expose Atlanta’s design community to the high-end craft our makers create, many of whom have reached the level of artisan through years of studying and working in a specific medium, teaching and having their work displayed in galleries and museums all over the world.”
