“There are really a huge variety of things that we do,” said manager Jaymi Renae. “A lot of it has to do with painting, arts [and] crafting.”
The children’s art studio, which has been in business for about two years, also encourages interaction with music. One of the classes offered is Tunes for Tots.
“[Children] come in and learn all their preschool songs and play with instruments and get their music motor skills going,” Renae explained.
The Memories with Mommy class, which she teaches, combines music, art and storytelling. She added it is one of their most popular classes.
“It’s really fun,” she said. “We do an arts and crafts [project] that matches whatever story I’m going to tell, and then after the story, we sing and dance.”
Children can also develop their artistic side through the studio’s canvas classes.
“We literally give [the children] a blank canvas and take them step by step,” Renae said. “It’s a really great way to get them going from a blank canvas to a drawing instead of just [using] a coloring sheet.”
Classes range from about $15 to $35 per child. The Little House of Art works with children ages 18 months to 12 years.
“[Engaging in art] definitely helps their imagination, it helps them grow, and it also helps them discover what they like and what they don’t like,” Renae said.
Parents can register their children online, over the phone or in person for individual classes and events, a series of classes, or art camps during holiday breaks or in the summer. The space is also available for birthday parties, field trips and clubs.
In addition, the studio hosts special events like Kids Drive-in Movie Night.
“From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., [the children] come and stay with us,” Renae said.
“They eat pizza, they have popcorn, and they usually play a game or paint their face, whichever they prefer.
“We’ve taken Rubbermaid buckets and spray painted them to look like cars. So they come in their PJs and bring their blankets and pillows. They all each have a car and they get to cuddle up in their car and we turn off the lights and watch a movie together and have popcorn.”
She explained the event gives the children’s parents three hours to themselves to enjoy a date night at a nearby restaurant.
