Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce put together the inaugural Dunwoody at Dusk Series at Park Place shopping center, across from Perimeter Mall.

The purpose of the event, which is Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., is to get visitors out to the stores and to familiarize residents with places in their neighborhood.

“We want to make sure people get into a good habit of shopping in the area,” said Debbie Fuse, the chamber’s executive director.

The event is to show the public what Dunwoody’s new businesses have to offer and why the neighborhood is such a desirable place to work and live.

There will be a small stage set up for live music, food, beverages and retailers with special promotions. Participating stores in Park Place will offer discounts the night of the event and throughout the summer.

The store owners are on board with the event plans which will bring more awareness to the items and goods they have to offer.

Alon’s Bakery and Market, one of the stores in the shopping center, will set up a special table in the courtyard. Alon’s will have chefs creating samples as well as a wine representative sampling different wines they offer in the store.

“We are hoping it will bring people in, especially for us because we are trying to build our dinner services,” said Alon’s manager Megan Buffington.

Fuse had the idea for the series in January and plans were finally underway in March.

“That is the best part of all of this, getting to see it come to life,” Fuse said. “You work on getting the concept out there and then putting a team together. The team has really helped put all the end pieces together. I think it will be great for the community.”

The next part of the series is July 19 at Georgetown Square.
