The Chapel Hill girls' basketball team is the only representative from the Douglas County area still in the GHSA Basketball State Playoffs.

The Alexander and New Manchester boys' teams' journeys ended Wednesday night in the quarterfinals as they both lost.

The Cougars fell to South Atlanta 78-68 in Class AAAA and the Jaguars fell to Gainesville in a close game, 60-58, in Class AAAAA.

The Lady Panthers are just two steps away from being state champions as they will compete in the Class AAA semifinals Saturday against St. Pius at Armstrong State University in Savannah.

Chapel Hill defeated Beach 58-53 in the Elite Eight last week after defeating Dodge County 44-38 in the Sweet Sixteen.
