The Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces will host the fifth annual Chastain Park Arts Festival in Buckhead Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

With about 200 artists and vendors, organizer Patrick Dennis, the foundation’s president, said the free event has developed over the years from its humble beginning as a venue to highlight local artists.

“As it’s grown over time, it’s becoming very close to an exclusive fine arts show,” said Dennis, who lives near the park. “It’s more beautiful each year and the artist quality just gets better and better.”

Despite the growth, about 60 to 80 percent of the festival’s exhibitors are local, ranging from jewelers and potters to photographers and painters.

One new aspect of the event Dennis hopes to introduce is a VIP experience for guests.

“Last year, we did a breakfast for artists and this year we wanted to expand for customers as well to have something elegant to make our customers feel special while they do their last bit of fine arts shopping before the holiday hits,” he said.

Another new feature is the Art Bombing, in which festival organizers have left 100 free pieces of art in the Chastain area for people to keep.

Local artists and schools collaborated on the project.

The festival will also include gourmet food and beverages, live music and entertainment and family activities. Pets are welcome but should be leashed. The park is located at 4469 Stella Drive.
