Supporters of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta can say “Adios!” to summer and give back to the hospital at the third annual Summer Sizzle benefit party.

Organizers of the Southwestern-themed fiesta aim to top last year’s donations of $75,000. The event will take place Aug. 23 at Summerour Studio in west Midtown and feature a performance by the Bradley Cole Smith Band. Tickets cost $125 each with all proceeds going to the hospital.

Event co-chairwomen Ann Hart Hunter and Elizabeth Draughon, both Buckhead residents, have kids who were treated at Children’s. Hunter said she is “very attached” to the hospital and spends much of her time volunteering to help raise money.

“Children’s just depends so much on the money that we raise in the community,” Hunter said. “There’s a big gap in what health insurance covers and what actual costs they incur. They depend heavily on fundraisers like this one to cover the gap in costs,” she said.

Last year, Summer Sizzle drew about 425 people in attendance.

Draughon said the event is already almost sold out.

“It’s always been a successful party and a fun party for people returning from summer vacation and ready to go back to school,” she said.
