The Ogletrees have been working out at Snap Fitness for the past three years. Nikki said between school and work, she would have the perfect excuse to not work out, but Todd will not let her use it.
“I am really busy with school and work, but I know that I can always find time to get a workout in,” Nikki said. “I know I can take 30 minutes to do a cardio workout or 30 minutes for a strength workout.”
Nikki said she has been working out off and on for the past three years, but she seriously started back in February and she has lost 22 pounds since then. She said the motivation came from a loving place.
“(Todd) has been pushing me and holding me accountable,” Nikki said.
Accountability is the one aspect Todd and Nikki agree is the best part about having a workout partner.
“When you have a partner, they know what you need to do, and they will push you to always be doing it,” Todd said. “If I start a plan, I tell as many people as possible, so I have many people holding me accountable.”
Todd said his key to staying in shape and continuing on with the workouts even when he may not want to comes from a competitive fire inside him.
“I stay plugged in to others who are working out and who have the same goals as me,” Todd said. “I go on bodybuilder.com and see all the people who have reached goals and it makes me want to reach those same goals. Having a good supports system is essential.”
Nikki is also a competitive person and she said she wants to keep up with her husband.
“I have such a competitive edge that when I see someone on the treadmill doing a five incline and I am only doing a three, I have to bump it up,” Nikki said.
Nikki and Todd motivate each other, and they both have diabetes in the family tree. Not falling in the family line is another motivation for the couple.
“We want to take care of our health now so we don’t have to be in a situation where we have to take care of it,” Todd said.
