A DeKalb restaurant has struck up a partnership with the Atlanta Falcons and will be the official barbecue restaurant for the team.

Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q, at 1238 DeKalb Ave. NE in Atlanta, will be serving up barbeque at special game day events, including tailgates and meet and greets, and co-owners Jonathan and Justin Fox said bigger ideas and plans are in store for the partnership deal.

“They approached us as early as February and the discussions started out simply as the possibility of a vending location inside of the Georgia Dome, but is has expanded into a broader partnership,” said Justin Fox.

Throughout the next several years, said Jonathan Fox, the partnership will evolve with the Falcon’s new Atlanta stadium, which is expected to be completed in 2017 and will include a permanent vending location.

For now, the brothers, who are originally from Texas but now reside in Brookhaven, said they are focused on moving the booming catering portion of their business out of the current restaurant location and continuing to serve up delicious, Texas-style barbeque to the community.

“To fulfill one game day event at the Georgia Dome would be a huge wear on our store with its current setup of being both the restaurant and the catering business, so we’re scouting out locations for a warehouse, commissary kitchen for the catering part of our business and hope to have that done within the next couple of months,” Jonathan Fox said.

Having moved to the Atlanta area in 1998 to pursue a career in graphic design, Jonathan Fox said hosting backyard barbecues for large groups of friends is how the restaurant came to be.

“We’ve always loved cooking for people and having friends over for parties so the business evolved from that,” he said.

“Eventually, we thought that we could put our passion for cooking for large groups of people into a catering operation and that took off on its own.”

The restaurant space began in 2007 and Jonathan Fox said the business has grown steadily since the beginning.

“We’ve been increasingly busier and busier over the years,” he said. “What started out as a back yard hobby grew into a partnership with the Atlanta Falcons and we’re really honored to have this little restaurant and catering business be so successful.”
