DeKalb interim CEO Lee May’s annual DeKalb family fun day is back. This event will be Aug. 11, from 2 to 7 p.m., at Bransby Outdoor YMCA at Rock Chapel, 1185 Rock Chapel Road in Lithonia. It is free and open to the public.

May is partnering with the YMCA along with several nonprofit organizations — Project A.R.M., Beverly Cunningham Outreach Program and Saving Our Children and Families. The purpose is for families to have a good time, while collecting school supplies for local students to help support them in the upcoming school year.

“This is a golden opportunity for families to have some summer fun and get the kids excited and ready for back-to-school at the same time,” said May.

The event is expected to attract more than 4,000 attendees. Activities will include face painting, horseback riding, rock climbing, swimming, paddle boating on the lake, health and wellness screenings, vendors and more.

All are invited to participate by donating school supplies onsite and volunteering for community programs.
