The election is set for March 19 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Advance voting will be March 11 to 15, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Paulding County Election Office at 240 Constitution Blvd. in Dallas.
Voters will be asked if malt beverage and wine retailers should be allowed to sell on Sundays between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. outside the cities in Paulding, according to a legal notice published by election superintendent Deidre Holden.
The practice currently is allowed inside the city of Hiram, but the city of Dallas has not taken any action on the matter.
The Paulding County Board of Commissioners in October unanimously authorized the March 19 referendum.
Commissioners had planned to vote on the resolution in time to put it on the ballot for last year’s Nov. 6 general election, but an oversight regarding the amount of time a resolution like this must be submitted to the state by law forced the board to wait.
If Paulding voters choose to allow Sunday sales, the law reportedly will go into effect April 5.
