Feb. 28, Legoland Discovery Center at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead will host 70 local children and their families as very special guests for an all-expenses-paid fun day with at the attraction, courtesy of Merlin’s Magic Wand. During the 100VE. PLAY. LIVE. Celebration, taking place from 5 to 7 p.m., the Atlanta attraction will host children from the Down’s Syndrome Association of Atlanta and the Coralwood Inclusion School in Decatur.

This visit is part of a special global event to celebrate the opening of Poole, England-based Merlin Entertainments’ 100th attraction this year, and the children who will visit will be joined by thousands of others across the 22 countries in which Merlin operates. In Atlanta, special activities will include a sweets station, serving cookies and punch, a Spread the Love booth for attendees to leave messages for Merlin’s Magic Wand and a themed group build in the Model Builder’s Academy.

The center and its parent company, Merlin, define their values not just by the passionate way they do business but also by the way they treat their visitors, their team, their suppliers and the communities in which they operate, and Merlin’s Magic Wand is an important part of that.

It is a special company charity, which provides great days out for seriously ill, disabled or disadvantaged children at all Merlin’s attractions around the world. The organization also works with local groups to fund special play areas for those children too sick to visit their attractions.

“We know that everyone will have a wonderful time: the children, their families and the staff at Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta,” General Manager Penda Meftah said. “It is a huge privilege for us to have the children here and to see their happy faces. This is what Legoland Discovery Center is all about — children and families playing and laughing together, going away with magical memories that will stay with them forever.”
