Commissioners reportedly voted 3-2 along party lines to increase the rate from 9.9 mills to 12.25 mills.
They had considered an increase to 12.9 mills. However, they decreased the amount meant for spending on contingencies by $900,000.
They also added more money on the revenue side by changing the projected property tax collection rate from 86 percent to 89 percent, and accounted for more property tax money coming in from a less-than-expected drop in the tax digest.
The current budget, passed last December, assumed a 4 percent drop in the digest and it is only projected to decrease by 1.47 percent.
