The annual 5K Duck Dash and Fun Run will be held the morning of the Duck Derby and organizers say it’s a great way to feel a part of the days festivities.
“It’s just one more thing that every body can take part in,” said Advocates for Children’s Executive Director Patty Eagar.
On-site registration will begin at 7 a.m. at the Cartersville Primary School starting location. Take advantage of Early Bird registration which gets you a reduced registration fee and guaranteed shirt size of your choice if you register before May 1.
Early registration is $25. Registration after May 1 is $30.
The Duck Dash will begin at 8 a.m. and Fun Run racers will gear up for their race at 8:45 a.m.
Both races are fun, friendly and non-competitive on a fast, flat, track and both welcome all runners and walkers looking to have a great time and support the children of the Bartow County community.
Barbara Terry has been organizing the races with her husband Matt since inception and she said the response from the community has been tremendous.
Terry and her family are runners and they wanted to find a way to tie in their favorite hobby with a great cause.
“We really just did it because we are runners and we thought it was one more way to raise money,” said Terry, who lives in Cartersville. “It really is exciting to see so many people get involved.”
Terry said not only will you be racing for a good cause but the top three overall male and female runners as well as the top three male and female masters runner will receive cash prizes.
This year there will be a chip timing system and Eagar said system will be provided by Harbin Clinic.
This is the second year the race has been held at Cartersville Primary School and Eagar said in addition to providing a family-friendly activity the races also help with the mission of Advocates.
“It brings a lot of awareness,” Eagar said.
