Story time
Each Tuesday at 10 a.m., the West End Branch hosts story time for preschool aged children and their families. Songs and crafts are also included during the story time. West End Branch is at 525 Peoples St. SW in Atlanta.

Diabetes awareness
The South Fulton Branch is sponsoring a diabetes awareness essay contest for the month of November. Entrants are asked to describe how their family and friends triumph over diabetes in their everyday life. Essays should be 500 words or less. Entries will be accepted at the branch until Nov. 30, and contest winners will be announced on Dec. 7. South Fulton Branch is at 4055 Flat Shoals Road in Union City.

Book club
Children ages 8 to 11 are invited to the inaugural meeting for Southwest children’s book club tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
A meet and greet will kick off the meeting. The first reading selection will also be announced at the meeting. Southwest Branch library is at 3665 Cascade Road in Atlanta.

Gratitude hour
In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, join the East Point Branch library for stories, rhymes, stretches and fun on Nov. 13 at 10:30 a.m. The event is geared for children ages 3 to 5, and reservations for groups larger than 10 are required. East Point Branch library is at 2757 Main St, in East Point.

Author visit
Children’s author Mona Scott will visit the College Park Branch library on Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. Scott will read and discuss her book on self-esteem for National Young Readers Week.
Children ages 3 to 7 are invited, and reservations are encouraged for groups. College Park Branch library is at 3647 Main St. in College Park.

Open jam
Musicians in South Fulton are invited to an open jam at the Southwest Branch library on Nov. 10 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Musicians are encouraged to bring demos, cards and their best business abilities to network with other local musicians. Southwest Branch Library is at 3665 Cascade Road in Atlanta.

The Hapeville Branch library will host a family time and giving thanks craft night on Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. Families will have the opportunity to tell each other why they are thankful, make and design a cornucopia and fill them with goodies. Hapeville Branch library is at 525 King St. in Hapeville.
