In only her second season on the Holy Innocents’ volleyball team, Joe has already earned the title of team captain and has emerged as a key go-to player for the Lady Golden Bears. Joe played a big role in the team’s wins over Fellowship Christian and Pinecrest Academy last Tuesday with a 0.253 hitting percentage, 37 kills, 54 digs and 8 aces in the two matches combined.
She also was effective in the Lady Golden Bears’ wins over Pace and Galloway Sept. 11 with 19 kills, a 0.233 hitting percentage, 21 digs and 4 aces in the those two matches. Holy Innocents’ coach Taylor Noland is impressed by the work ethic and leadership skills of his young standout.
“Sarah Joe is the lone sophomore on the team this year,” Noland said. “She improved tremendously in the off-season and never comes off the court. She’s the player everyone wants to get the ball when it matters. She is an extremely hard worker and I expect her to help the team progress far into the playoffs.”
Joe is a year-round volleyball player as a member of the A5 club team, which also includes her Holy Innocents’ teammates Haley Collins and Sarah Porter. She is also a standout in the classroom at the school, achieving Honor Roll and Headmaster’s List accolades last year as a freshman.
