That was never more evident that last week against Banks County. Facing an elimination game in the opening round of the state playoffs, the speedy leadoff hitter went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, three stolen bases and a triple in Blessed Trinity’s 9-0 win.
“Jackie is our table setter offensively,” said Blessed Trinity softball coach Jan O’Donnell. “If she gets on the chances of her scoring are very high, she sets the tone for the rest of our team and is definitely our offensive spark plug.”
Kinney, a four-year starter in the infield, is hitting .385 with 42 runs scored and 35 stolen bases so far this season. O’Donnell said the athletic senior is not only one of the fastest players to play at Blessed Trinity in her time as coach, but also one of the most complete.
“Jackie has speed and can lay down a bunt or she can hit for power. She can play any position on the field, has a great mental toughness, never makes excuses and always picks her teammates up.
“She is a total team player and will be very missed next year.”
