Using a methodical attack that emphasizes ball possession and short quick passes, the Marist girls’ soccer team has slowly but surely carved up every defense they have played this season.

At the center of their precision attack is sophomore midfielder Kelsey Carrier, a heady player that has a knack for moving the ball to the right player at the right time.

“With our style of game, we like to get the ball to her feet and let Kelsey go out and direct traffic,” said Marist soccer coach Sergio Stadler of Carrier, a second year starter in the Lady War Eagles midfield.

“She is the key element for us in moving the ball forward and implementing our attack, and she has done a very good job at allowing us to succeed with that style of play.”

Stadler went on to point out wins over defending AAAAA state champion Milton (4-2 on April 15) and Lovett (1-0 on April 8) as two of Carrier’s best performances in their 17-win regular season.

“She has had some great games recently which is important for us,” continued the long time Marist coach. “Because when she comes out and plays well it sets the tone for everyone else around her.”
