Whether she is pouring in points on a nightly basis, plucking rebounds high out of the air, or locking up the opposition’s best offensive threat, Meredith Tarver has done a little bit of everything for her Northview team this season.

The 5-foot-11 forward leads the Lady Titans in scoring (14.9 points per game), rebounds (8.8 per game), steals (4.3 per game), blocks (1.2 per game), is shooting a team-best 52 percent from the field and has Northview playing their best ball of the season with tournament play on the horizon.

“We really play through Meredith,” said first-year Northview coach Mike Martin.

“In most games this season she has gone for a double-double in points and rebounds … she is the hub of our wheel and the other girls play through her.”

Tarver, who has signed to play for the University of Massachusetts, has done some of her best work in the Lady Titans’ biggest games of the season.

Meredith dropped a season-high 25 points in a win over cross-town rival Johns Creek on Jan. 26, had 23 points and 14 rebounds in a key sub-region win over Sequoyah Jan. 28 and has season highs of 25 rebounds and 14 steals at other points during the year.

Tarver and her teammates will play for a spot in the state tournament on Feb. 12, likely in a rematch against Sequoyah.
