The senior committed to the North Carolina Central University last week. She then promptly returned her attention to the task at hand — carrying the Lady Wolfpack, fresh off last season’s playoff run, to even greater heights.
Jones, a versatile 5 foot 9 swing player, has been a mainstay on the Woodland varsity squad, suiting up there all four years.
“She’s our court leader,” said Lady Wolfpack coach Ashley Maddox. “She’s our do-it-all utility player … our point guard to start the game, then we move her around wherever we need help because she can play every position.”
Jones earns high marks and praise from her coaches for her intangibles as much as her athleticism.
Phrases like “high basketball IQ” and “fundamentally sound” are lobbed in her direction — a testament to Jones’ consistency in delivering the goods and setting the tone for her team night in and night out.
“For me, as a coach, I want an assistant coach on the floor and that’s what Morgan brings to our team,” Maddox said.
