Described as the most versatile athlete on one of the state’s top teams, Alpharetta senior Natalie Bordes is a jack of all trades for the Lady Raiders track team.

“She can go from the 4x100 relay team all the way to the mile,” said Alpharetta track coach A.J. Merine, noting her ability to transition from sprinting events to endurance races effortlessly. “Talent like hers is very special and rare, and she has really matured into a strong leader on an extremely talented, yet young team.”

Training this spring as a mid-distance specialist and relay team member, Bordes qualified for this weekend’s AAAAAA state meet in four separate events — 800-meters, 1600, 4x100 and 4x400 — the maximum for any athlete on the track.

Merine said her personal best time of 2:12.04 in the 800 is the swiftest two laps in the state this season and ranks her in the top 30 nationally in that discipline. Bordes has also rattled off a 5:10 mile and is the anchor on the Lady Raiders 4x400 team that is expected to contend for a medal in Albany this weekend.

“Natalie is the ultimate competitor with a killer instinct,” said Merine of his star senior. “Once she steps on the track all she wants to do is win.”
