Annie Bennett has been a steady presence in the midfield for the Holy Innocents’ girls’ lacrosse team this season.

The senior has scored 31 goals on 58 shots on goal for a shooting percentage of 53 percent, and has also contributed eight assists, 43 draw controls and 18 caused turnovers to lead the way for the Golden Bears.

Bennett scored seven goals to pace Holy Innocents’ to a 22-8 victory over Whitewater March 22, had three goals in an 18-9 loss to St. Pius X last Tuesday and scored two goals in a 13-4 loss to Pope March 18.

She has been an integral part of the success that Holy Innocents’ has enjoyed the last few years, playing key roles on the Golden Bears’ state runner-up team in 2011 and their elite eight squad in ’12.

“Annie is a great leader in that she’s a positive role model and she’s a great cheerleader,” Holy Innocents’ coach Julie LaFramboise said. “She embodies what I feel is a positive student-athlete model. She’s a good student, she’s a strong athlete and she brings a positive energy on and off the field, so she is a very strong leader for us.”
