The 5-foot-8 sophomore guard has stepped up her game in a big way so far in year two with the War Eagles, averaging 20 points, eight rebounds and 4.2 assists a game through the first four contests of the 2013-14 campaign.
Oden scored 25 points in Marist’s 53-46 loss to Centennial Dec. 7, while also scoring 22 points in a 63-42 victory over Therrell Dec. 3, 19 points in a 56-51 win over Grady last Tuesday and 14 points in a 62-29 defeat of Woodward Nov. 19.
While Oden is normally a shooting guard, Marist coach Kim Hixon said she is versatile enough to play any position on the court.
“She can play the post and she’s a great mismatch on the perimeter,” Hixon said. “She’s scoring so much because she’s so versatile. She can play from any position — one [point guard] through five [center]. She’s a very special player for us.”
Oden also plays AAU basketball as a member of the FBC team of Atlanta.
