The game of softball is all about vision to Woodward Academy shortstop Hanna Sidhu.

As a result, the junior went through the entire regular season without striking out.

“I mentally get prepared in the on-deck circle,” Sidhu said. “I like to picture myself getting a hit every time. I expect to get a hit every time so when you think of it, it will happen.”

“I believe that Hanna is one of the top players in the state,” Woodward softball coach Greg Mooneyham said. “She bats second in our line up because of her great bat control and softball IQ.”

Then when Sidhu was on the base path, she was still a problem for opposing pitchers, stealing 26 bases in as many attempts.

“When she gets on base it turns into a double because of her base running skills,” said Mooneyham of Sidhu, whose on-base percentage was .587.

As a team, we are really fast and we steal a bunch of bases,” Sidhu said. “We are just aggressive on the bases.”

The Lady War Eagles won their final 10 games of the regular season. Sidhu has a 3.8 GPA and an interest in sports medicine.
