“Jayla didn’t play as big of a role as she is playing this year because we had Jordan who signed with Villanova,” Decatur coach Bill Roberts said. “She has had to pick it up and play a much bigger role now that she is gone. We’re proud of how she has picked it up even for a young kid.”
“I worked hard and listened to my coaches,” Morrow said. “They told me not to be just coachable but remember to play the game.”
Last season, Morrow averaged nearly nine points but is leading the team with almost 15 points a game this season.
“I like having the ball because I am the smallest person on the court but at the same time I make a big impact,” Morrow said. “I just like being the point guard. If I could be a point guard for the rest of my life I wouldn't have a problem with it.”
Morrow also doesn’t have any issues with the way WNBA player Lindsey Harding performs on the court.
“Lindsey Harding is my role model,” Morrow said. “She really just shows me how to play the game. She doesn’t rush things but just takes control. I just have so much respect for her.”
