Julia Gaston has been a key contributor to the success of the Blessed Trinity girls’ soccer team over the last few years.

The senior midfielder is not a big scorer, but she brings a number of other attributes to the Lady Titan lineup, according to coach Gilbert Jean-Baptiste.

“She doesn’t score much, but she’s the one who anchors the midfield,” Jean-Baptiste said. “She’s the one who supports the line of defense. She distributes the ball well. She’s a ball winner, a blue-collar player. I think she has one or two goals. What’s most impressive is she is really undersized, but extremely good in the air. When you look at the stats – I count how many headers each player has and she has something like 59 headers. Anybody else, even center-backs, have 27. So that’s unheard of.”

Gaston – who plays club soccer for the North Atlanta Soccer Association -- will attend college at Auburn, though she will not be playing soccer there.

“She definitely has [NCAA Division I] talent,” Jean-Baptiste said. “She can probably walk on at Auburn. Most coaches look at her size. She tackles hard and she’s injury-free for the last four years. So, she definitely is that kind of blue-collar player that you hate to play against.”
