At the GISA Region 4-AA Track and Field Championship on Apr. 24, Arlington Christian sophomore Kayln Jennings proved to the sprinters and hurdlers from Brandon Hall School, Flint River Academy, Griffin Christian and Piedmont Academy that she was the best of the bunch.

Beginning this Thursday through Saturday, Jennings hopes to accomplish the same in the 100 and 200-meter dash and 100 hurdles at the GISA State Finals in Albany.

“She came here with a good skill set on the hurdles,” ACS track and field coach Mitch Grubb said. “The technique with hurdles is so important and not just the speed.”

“It makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something really big each time I win,” said Jennings, who attended Northgate last year and enjoys running hurdles the most.

Last week, Jennings also helped the 4-by-100 relay team finish first.

“She’s a pretty hard worker,” Grubb said. “She pushes herself pretty good. It’s been such a joy to have her. By her being at the level she was at, it really encouraged some of our other girls to say ‘I want to run the relays with her.’”

Grubb plans to have Jennings “attack the hurdles” during practice this week before finals.
