When the Lovett girls’ track and field team needs a big performance or two, Khadejah Jackson delivers.

The junior came through with victories in the 300-meter hurdles and the triple jump to lead the Lions to a runner-up finish behind champion Wesleyan at the Region 6AA meet at Westminster last Wednesday.

Jackson won the 300 hurdles – the event she won the state title in last year — with a time of 47.42 seconds and the triple jump with a mark of 34 feet, 10½ inches.

She also finished third in the 400 (59.89 seconds) and helped lead both the Lovett 400 and 1,600 relay teams to second-place finishes.

“She does it all, basically,” Lovett coach Charlie Finch said. “She’s our everything. There isn’t an event that she wouldn’t do. She’s the ultimate team player. Obviously, we’re counting on her to do big things [at the state meet].”

Jackson went on to qualify for this weekend’s girls state meet in Albany in the 300 hurdles, 400, triple jump and both relays at the Class AA sectionals at Greater Atlanta Christian in Norcross last Saturday.

It will be the third consecutive state meet appearance for Jackson, who finished fourth in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the 400 as a freshman in 2012.
