It seemed like the South Atlanta Lady Hornets’ fifth straight win over Therrell was going to be a struggle but then freshman Kierra Johnson-Graham took over.

The 5-foot-10 point guard ignited the decisive 8-0 run with a 3-pointer in the first quarter and capped it with a coast-to-coast layup in the second quarter.

“She’s an impact player,” Johnson-Graham’s mother and South Atlanta girls’ coach Akisha Graham said. “She reads the floor well and she learns quickly.”

Johnson-Graham finished with 12 points in the Lady Hornets’ third win of the season, a 48-19 victory last Friday.

Senior Jacarda Kizzee also led the team with 15 points and was huge on the boards and scoring in the paint.

“JK is like my big sister,” Johnson-Graham said. “I like running plays with her because I know I can depend on her the most.”

“Jacarda’s shot is very unorthodox but it goes in majority of the time so we haven’t tried to change it,” Graham said. “She’s our dominant player on the inside and a major part of the team.”

Johnson-Graham also plays for the Georgia Pistols AAU team.

“It’s very easy to play with her because she has a lot of experience,” Kizzee said.
