Due to her performance during the first eight games – all wins — of the season for the Woodward Lady War Eagles, senior middle hitter Lexie Norfleet received quite a compliment from her coach.

“Lexie has been on a tear and is probably playing the best volleyball she has ever played in high school,” said Woodward volleyball coach Tad Sahara in August.

“It is definitely exciting and definitely a good start,” Norfleet said. “We just have to make sure we keep up the energy of what we are doing now so we can continue to win.”

Norfleet and the Lady War Eagles have done just that, winning their last 13 games and owning a 23-5 overall record.

Individually, Norfleet has 109 kills, 35 aces, 19 blocks and a .455 hitting percentage for Woodward, which won its first Lovett Block Party tournament since 2003 over previously unbeaten Whitewater.

“I like playing my position because you get to run all kinds of sets across the net,” Norfleet said. “You are not just in one area of the court. You get to be apart of almost every play. It’s really fun.”

Off the court, Norfleet owns a 3.3 grade-point, has an interest in marketing and plans on attending either Clemson or South Carolina.
