Morgan Plowman is looking to conclude her high school swimming career on a positive note.

The North Springs senior built up some momentum for this week’s state meet with a strong performance at the Metro Championships at Westminster Jan. 24 and 25.

Plowman finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.70 seconds and was seventh in the 50 freestyle at 26.25 seconds in the prestigious meet, which features many of the top teams in Georgia.

Now, Plowman has her sights set on the state meet at Georgia Tech, where she has qualified in the 200 individual medley (2:22.53), the 50 free (25.76 seconds) and the 100 free (55.20 seconds).

“Morgan is a strong swimmer and a great teammate,” North Springs coach Julie Ferris said. “When she was too sick to compete at a dual meet a few weeks ago, she still came to cheer on her team. She does any event that I need her to do.”

At the Fulton County Championships at Marist Jan. 11, she finished third in the 50 free (25.76 seconds) and fifth in the 100 free (56.34 seconds).
