Before the last three games of the season, Ola senior forward Taylor Lott was responsible for 45 percent of her team’s offense this season.

Over the course of 15 games, Pott has scored 42 of the Lady Mustangs’ 93 goals, making her more than worthy of the team’s Golden Boot Award.

“It just comes from making opportunities for myself and my teammates passing me the ball and giving me opportunities as well,” Lott said.

“Thankfully, we’ve got a good core of a team that knows her strengths and plays to her abilities but we know by far that she is our most successful in terms of scoring,” Ola girls’ coach Emily Schumacher said. “If we get the opportunity to get it to her, we usually take that chance.”

Prior to facing Union Grove, Henry County and Sandy Creek, Lott was also eight goals shy of tying the school record. Next year, she will play at Jacksonville State while majoring in nursing.

“We’re really pleased with her and looking forward to seeing how she progresses and moves on to college,” Schumacher said. “Her natural skill definitely surpasses many others that we have here.”

Lott, who is a huge fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, described herself as very aggressive on the field and Schumacher thought she was purposeful.

“He’s one of the best soccer players in the world and I love watching him play,” Lott said. “He reminds me of myself.”
