Brenda Watts, a former North Springs Charter High School cafeteria worker, has been arrested for stealing hundreds of dollars a day from the Sandy Springs school for up to more than a decade.

Watts, who retired in June, is accused of running a cash-only food cart where no records were kept. According to arrest warrants, she stole about $500 a day from the school.

Patrick Burke, Fulton County Schools’ deputy superintendent of operations, said in a statement the district will do everything it can to get justice for the crime.

“We take our fiduciary responsibility very seriously,” Burke said. “Beyond taking appropriate personnel actions, when a potential crime occurs, we will investigate and work with law enforcement to prosecute individuals to the full extent of the law.”
