The Friends of the Milton Library’s first book sale will take place Aug. 10 at the Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub, at 12650 Crabapple Road, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Friends group has been conducting a campaign to obtain donated books to support the new library to be built at the corner of Mayfield Road and Charlotte Drive in Crabapple. Proceeds from the sale of books will be used to enhance a range of library programs for the benefit of Milton residents.

“We seek new and gently used books of all kinds,” said Matt Kunz, president of Friends of the Milton Library.

Text books, children’s books, fiction and coffee table books are particularly desirable. CDs, DVDs and audio books will also be accepted. Those making donations can receive a tax receipt if they wish.

Books can be left in specially marked bins at the following locations:

 Milton City Hall, 13000 Deerfield Pkwy., Suite 107

 Milton Fire Station #43, 750 Hickory Flat Road

 Shannondale Farm, 2395 Birmingham Road

 Urban Farmhouse, 12680 Crabapple Road

The new library will be a branch of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System.

The county is constructing eight new libraries and is expanding two libraries.

Construction of the Milton library will begin in late 2013 with completion scheduled for late 2014.

Details of the library plan can be found on the Friends of the Milton Library Facebook page at
