The two contested Fulton County Board of Education races were decided tonight during the general primary.

As board of education races are nonpartisan, as long as one candidate receives 50 percent plus one to secure the seat, another election will not be held.

District 1 incumbent Linda Schultz took an early lead and held it over challenger Robert Goodman. She earned a total of 4,984 votes for 54.76 percent, compared to Goodman’s 4,107 votes at 45.13 percent.

The District 4 seat was won overwhelmingly by incumbent Linda Bryant, who earned 5,066 votes for 61.35 percent.

Paula Ward trailed far behind in second at 16.86 percent with 1,392 votes. Retina Burton received 1,219 votes for 14.76 percent and Anna Croley earned 557 votes for 16.86 percent.

District 3 was an uncontested race won by incumbent Gail Deal with 7,544 votes of the total 7,612 cast. Sixty-eight write-in votes comprised .89 percent of the vote.

The TSPLOST margin was narrow throughout the night as the 348 precincts reported, holding steady with a majority no. The end vote maintained the opposition, with 52.5 Fulton County residents voting against and 47.5 voting for.

The measure was voted down by a margin of 5,714 votes, with a total of 54,292 percent for and 60,006 against.

The Fulton County Sunday alcohol sales for unincorporated Fulton County passed overwhelming with 74,8 percent for and 25.2 percent against. Fulton County residents voted 84,128 strong for the measure.
